The Future of 35th Street
We are working with neighbors to revitalize the 35th Street commercial corridor by bringing resources into the community for public art, street furniture, building improvements, and small business support. Meanwhile, hundreds of neighbors have come together to shape a visual identity for McKinley Park that will include a logo, colors, and other graphics to be displayed on 35th Street and elsewhere in the neighborhood.
These projects are based on our 2022 and 2023 community design programs with the University of Illinois Chicago, in which more than 650 neighbors came together to envision what a renewed 35th Street would look like.

How we got here
In partnership with the University of Illinois Chicago and more than 650 neighbors, we led sessions to envision what a revitalized 35th Street, our main commercial corridor, would look like. Key desires include gathering spaces, walkability for everyday needs, and small businesses that reflect McKinley Park’s cultural diversity.
