The City of Chicago is investing $2.5 million in small businesses on the 35th Street Commercial Corridor thanks to an opportunity secured by the McKinley Park Development Council (MPDC). Funds include $1.8 million for property improvements, as well as opportunities for the corridor as a whole including beautification, marketing, entrepreneur education, and services to support small businesses.

The McKinley Park Development Council has been awarded a $200,000 grant from The Chicago Community Trust to enliven 35th Street between Archer and Ashland with public art and creative street fixtures such as seating and trash cans.

MPDC is planning ahead for murals and street furniture on 35th St. We want to create art that reflects the community, and we need your help!

Metropolitan Planning Council put together the In the Zone 'zine to explain zoning and how it can help or hurt neighborhoods. For example, the ‘zine uses MAT Asphalt as an example of a zoning failure, comparing it to a successful industrial development in another neighborhood, where neighbors were included in decision making.

McKinley Park businesses, community groups, and artists are joining forces to present the McKinley Park Pop Ups on Saturday, September 6 from 12-6PM along 35th St.

Bike into the future! We've teamed up with Chicago,Bike Grid Now for a free narrated bike tour of the future riverfront path through McKinley Park, Bridgeport, and Chinatown on Saturday, August 23rd. Options available for both experienced cyclists and families with kids.
